Explore Sooke: East Sooke Regional Park

This 1,400-hectare park protects most of the 7 km of waterfront between Becher Bay and Sooke Inlet, plus two notable hills: Mount Maguire and Babbington Hill. The park ranges from groomed picnic grounds to wilderness and marsh areas. A highlight is petroglyphs carved into the rock shoreline near Alldridge Point. Trails range from carefully groomed and simple trails to lengthy ascents and difficult scrambles. The best bet for simple strolls is from the Aylard farm parking lot to an ocean viewpoint. In all 50 km link various features of the park. Moderate hikes are from the Anderson Cove parking lot to the Babbington Hill and Mount Maguire trails. A challenge is the Coast Trail, which runs 10 km along the oceanfront. Expect some difficult stretches.
